Running Workflow in the Background

OpenCRM Online
• August 04, 2026

OpenCRM includes an option to run workflow actions that normally trigger after a record is saved as a background process.

This can be beneficial in environments where a large number of workflow rules are executed during record saves, as it can help reduce delays and improve the user experience when creating or updating records.

How does it work?

When enabled, eligible workflow processes are queued and executed via a regular background poll rather than immediately after the record is saved.

When should I use this?

Consider enabling this option if:

  • Record save times are being affected by complex or high-volume workflow activity
  • You want workflow processing to occur in the background rather than during user interactions
  • You are looking to improve overall system responsiveness

Is it enabled by default?

No. This feature is disabled by default and must be enabled through Additional Settings within OpenCRM.
